I am thankful Payton accepted your crazy offer in June which ultimately gave me the opportunity to meet Grace and Tessa as well and enjoy a quality run ski run with you all a few weeks ago. Yes, those three ladies can RIP! Nice piece Ole Buddy! Look forward to more and new encounters soon with new friends.

Beautiful piece. I love the idea that friendships cascade. Having my friend Amirah here for the weekend and seeing her interact with all my new friends here assured me that even though the things I do day to day have changed, my character has remained relatively constant. Hope I get to visit her at some point and meet all her cool new friends in DC!

Wonderful article, Michael, and well-written. It's special to hear about the friendships you've made, and I aspire to introduce more people this year!

This was great. When you trust someone's advice on music and movies, it says a lot. But when you trust their advice on a new friend, they're definitely someone special.

Relatable and accurate piece. It's hard to invest time into new friendships. I find myself missing home when I am not putting in conscious effort to meeting new people. The initial effort is difficult and awkward, but the result can be wonderful. More awkward hellos. When meeting a stranger, the other person is probably equally as nervous if not more than you!

Meeting new people is, most of the time, extremely challenging! When it's available, having others to smooth the introduction is a godsend. I imagine that in your extensive travels you've had to do a lot more bootstrapping since you don't have existing networks to rely on, but that once you have a small crew assembled that the compound effect of friendship begins accruing and things get a lot easier.
